Under the Northern Star: An Evening with Chef Andrew Zimmern

We are excited to welcome renowned chef, television personality, and culinary storyteller Andrew Zimmern for an outdoor dining experience celebrating Northern Michigan’s summer. 

Set amid the beauty of our estate vineyards and rolling countryside, guests will gather at long, communal farmhouse feasting tables designed to foster conversation, connection, and the simple joy of sharing a meal. The evening begins with a reception featuring passed appetizers, artisan breads, and a nostalgic steakhouse-inspired relish display, then transitions to an abundant buffet dinner curated by Chef Zimmern. 

The menu showcases timeless techniques, vibrant seasonal ingredients, and bold flavors—from poached shrimp with remoulade and fried baby artichokes with lemon aioli to chilled asparagus with sauce gribiche, colorful roasted peppers with Cantabrian anchovies, garden-fresh tomato salad, seared tuna with caponata, and grilled prime dry-aged beef sirloin with tarragon-chive emulsion. Thoughtfully selected Black Star Farms wines will accompany the meal, highlighting the best of Northern Michigan’s vineyards and complementing each course throughout the evening. 

More than a dinner, this is an opportunity to experience Chef Zimmern’s signature blend of hospitality, storytelling, and culinary expertise in an intimate setting unlike any other in Northern Michigan. Throughout the evening, guests are likely to hear stories from his travels, insights into the menu, and reflections on the power of food to connect people across cultures and around the table.
