2008 Arcturos Sur Lie Chardonnay - Out of Stock
This wine is a direct result of a good growing season. To help expose the terroir component of Northwest Michigan, no oak has been used in the production of this wine. The flinty and steely aromas make the wine reminiscent of a crisp Chablis or Macon.
| Appellation: | Old Mission Peninsula | | Blend: | 100% Chardonnay | | Harvest: | 10/18/08 | | Bottling: | 5/7/09, 831 cases, 12% alcohol, .0% residual sugar | | Price: | $13.50 |
Flavor and Aroma:
Medium bodied with ripe pear, apple, and citrus. Herbaceous floral notes pleasantly combine with subtle minerality.
Aging Potential:
Enjoy this fresh crisp wine within three to five years.
Thoughts for Food:
This is a particularly food friendly wine. Its medium body will stand up to the cheese, garlic and anchovies of a Caesar salad and at the same time its fruit driven character won't steal the show from a delicately seasoned cream based soup. It's an easy match for chicken and fish and also provides a perfect contrast for butter and cream sauces.
Wine Maker Comments:
This may be the perfect expression of Michigan Chardonnay. There is no oak used in the fermentation or aging, so what you have is the pure expression of fruit and soil in one of the great grapes of the world.
